Repair or replace: how we decide a device’s life cycle
When a broken device reaches our workshop we do not start by opening it. We start by working out whether it is worth it.
The 50% rule
If the repair costs more than half of an equivalent new device, it usually does not pay off, unless there is software or peripherals that are hard to migrate.
That is why diagnosis always comes before the quote, and the quote includes the price of the alternative.
Remaining useful life
Replacing a screen on a two-year-old laptop is an investment. Doing it on a seven-year-old one with a dead battery is postponing the problem by three months.
We look at age, battery health, drive type, upgradable memory and whether the manufacturer still ships updates.
The cost almost nobody counts: downtime
A salesperson without a laptop costs more per day than most repairs. That is why we provide loan devices while yours is in the workshop.
With a maintenance contract the loan unit is included and delivered the same day.
What we repair in the workshop
Screens, keyboards, hinges, batteries, cameras, microphones, charging ports, fans, memory and drive upgrades, data recovery and clean reinstallation with profile migration.
